Be organised! I don’t know how many times I’ve attended a wedding where something has been forgotten or last minute dilemmas have occurred. Every wedding should be carefully planned to avoid any last minute stress. Here is an example of a potential wedding check list.
One Year Ahead
Book Venue – MOST IMPORTANT!
Choose wedding dress and rings
Enquire about transport, photographers, caterers, stationers, florists etc.
Six Months Ahead
Make arrangements for the cake
Meet with photographer to discuss photography. (WHITE offers a chance for our clients to come in and look at our albums and talk through the venue and photographs)
Go to registrar
Book organist / entertainment
Book hairdresser / makeup artist
Order wedding stationery
Draw up guest list
Book honeymoon
Sort out Bridesmaids dresses
Three Months Ahead
Send out invitations (unless your wedding is abroad in which case let people know as soon as you do!)
Agree menu with caterers
Choose hymns, readings and order of service
Complete preparation talks with priest / registrar
Make wedding gift list
Order floral decorations
Book formal wear
Book your wedding night hotel
Book wedding rehearsal – if required
Book hair and makeup trials
Book stag and hen nights!
One Month Ahead
Finalise reception details
Choose gifts for family & friends
Finalise guest list / any other arrangements
Try outfits for any alterations
One Week To Go
Hold a rehearsal – if your think its necessary.
Collect outfits and accessories
Check final fitting of outfits and arrange collection
Check nothing has been missing or forgotten – the rings!
Most importantly DONT PANIC! Your getting married, congratulations! Relax and enjoy your day!
