Spring is here and so are the amazing Liverpool Weddings we have to photograph…
Winter wedding at St George’s Hall in Liverpool
We recently had the pleasure of photographing a truly unique wedding. Diane and Rob were married at St. George’s hall in Liverpool in late November. The weather was fantastic, for photographers that means we can make the best of the many fantastic locations available to us.
St John’s gardens behind St. George’s Hall is always a great location and on this day the sun was low giving us a wonderful soft light.
Diane & Rob’s wedding party was very small on the day so we had some fun getting some more unusual photographs. This one a shot of the men in a ‘Rat Pack’ style.
Diane and Rob chose White for their wedding photography as they liked our approach, with it being such an intimate unique day they felt that we were the ones who would be able to work with them to make the most of the day and capture the true spirit of their special day. We enjoyed it immensely and captured some great moments for them.
November wedding photography at Isla Gladstone in Liverpool
We were lucky enough to be shooting Jenny and James’ wedding day recently at St Robert Bellarmines Church, Bootle and reception at the Isla Gladstone in Stanley Park in Liverpool.
The day’s weather was changeable with several heavy showers and a spectacular evening thunderstorm witnessed from inside the Isla Gladstone’s amazing glass structure. Changeable weather always poses a challenge for a wedding photographer, not only from the perspective of keeping the wedding party dry but also for the changing light – one moment overcast and dull, the next sunshine and blue skies.
At WHITE we love challenges and today it paid off, as we were shooting some portraits of the happy couple the sun broke through the cloud and gave us the most amazing golden light. As a photographer you have to react quickly to moments like this, the light almost certainly won’t last for long, we quickly positioned the couple to make the most of the light and got some great shots.
As the day continued the weather turned for the worse once more, however in the evening it cleared for a spell and the adventurous couple were more than happy to venture outside for some night shots. With the Isla Gladstone lit up in the background we managed to get some lovely shots to round the day off.
A Fantastic Winter Wedding at the Liverpool Malmaison
We were recently lucky enough to photograph the fantastic wedding of Hayley and Faith at the Liverpool Malmaison.
One challenge of winter weddings is the potential for photographing in low light, as reportage photographers we at WHITE like to take an unobtrusive approach, this means keeping flash to a minimum (if at all).
We use top quality camera equipment this means we can shoot in low light whilst maintaining excellent image quality, we also use lenses that allow a lot of light in (for the technical out there a minimum of F2.8, sometimes more). All this allows us to shoot photographs in natural light without flash. Sometimes however for an extra ‘pop’ in the photograph we will add a little flash just to make the shot more dramatic or bring out some detail in the foreground.
In challenging circumstances such as this the photographer also needs to be aware of their surroundings – is there a light source that we could move the happy couple closer to to provide interesting lighting for the shot? Can we position the camera to make the most of the available light and add an extra level of artistry to the shot?
Above all we need to convey the atmosphere of the day for the bride and groom, bright sunlight or internal low-light we strive to push our creativity to provide the best wedding photographs possible.

White Wedding Photography in Crosby!
If you’ve got the space, weddings at home are great! Recently we photographed a wedding in Crosby at the bride’s ancestral home. The ceremony and reception took place under a large marquee in the garden. Despite the recent weather, it was a really nice, pleasant day. Having the ceremony at home meant the bride and groom could be a lot more relaxed about when the ceremony took place, and were not subject to time controls which are normally apparent at public venues. The home setting made for a great atmosphere, and all the guests were relaxed and enjoying themselves.
From a technical perspective, we really enjoyed the light provided by the marquee. It dispersed the light really nicely and made for some great photographs. If you have the space, a wedding at home can be a great option. As well creating a nice atmosphere, there’s a lot of money to be saved in terms of venue hire, catering, and cork-age.

White Wedding Photography at Liverpool Marina
We recently had the pleasure of photographing a wedding at the Liverpool Marina Bar & Grill. Along with providing a large capacity for guests, its waterside location makes for some great group shots, especially when the sun starts to set. The ceremony was a pleasure to behold, and the speeches that followed later were among some of the best I’ve heard. The guests were lively and everyone joined in on the couple’s first dance. It was a great day to be part of.

White Wedding Photography at Liverpool Football Club
Having seen a fair few games at liverpool football club myself, I’ve always fancied a tour of the stadium. Recently I was fortunate enough to to photograph a lovely couple’s wedding from Norway. They had travelled all the way to Liverpool just for the privilege of getting married in the stadium’s hallowed grounds. I really admired their dedication to LFC.
The ceremony was a joy to witness and afterwards we were treated to a private tour of the stadium. It was really interesting learning a bit more about the team’s history and getting to visit the press, changing and VIP rooms.
For any die-hard liverpool football fans out there I would definitely recommend LFC as a venue for your wedding, it truly offers a unique experience!

View from the Hope Street Hotel in Liverpool
I was treated to this especially scenic view at a wedding this weekend. I’m no stranger to beautiful countryside views at weddings, but this was the first to treat me to a dazzling cityscape overlooking Liverpool.
This view was courtesy of the Hope Street Hotel. Their main function room over looks the city on three sides, giving unparalleled views of the metropolitan cathedral and city centre. It was a great day, and I was fortunate enough to photograph one of the nicest couples I’ve met so far in my career.
It’s a great venue for a wedding as it’s central location makes it easily accessible. It’s also a stones-throw from a plethora of upmarket bars and restaurant in the city centre.
